IT'S FINALLY OVER

We owe the NFL and its minions a great debt of gratitude for Super Bowl XLVIII, a reprise of William Shakespeare’s 16th century comedy, ‘Much Ado About Nothing’.

After countless hours of post-season, pre-game, in-depth analysis and breakdowns of the league’s best defense squaring off against the league’s best offense, of scores of player interviews, of Beast Mode, Omaha, betting lines, dozens of under-overs, weather forecasts, Wes Welker impersonations of Dark Helmet and the promise of Roger Goodell (gasp!) actually sitting outside while watching the game, what was delivered?

1. A game that was never competitive
2. A demonstration of just how little creativity $4 million per 30-second commercial spot will buy
3. An evening with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, The Drone & Monotone Boys
4. An outstanding reason for watching the new episode of Downton Abbey at 9:00 pm

Thank you. We can all now return to our actual lives.
